I am Stewart Skloss, and this site serves as an evolving reflection of my journey, values, and the principles that guide me both personally and professionally.
Beyond the confines of the corporate world, I find purpose and fulfillment in nurturing relationships, cherishing moments as a father, and advocating for causes close to my heart. This site is a testament to the belief that success is not defined by accolades alone but by the lives we touch and the legacy we leave behind.
At the heart of who I am lies a profound belief in the value of fatherhood, family, friends, and meaningful connections. I believe that success is not solely measured by achievements but by the impact we have on the lives of those around us. Kindness, to me, is the cornerstone of this ethos – it is the light we shine to dispel darkness, the hope we offer to those who feel alone, and the unwavering belief in the inherent goodness of humanity.
I am a proud 12th generation Texan dating back to before Texas was Texas, 1731, with a deep-rooted passion for adventure and a heart as big as the Lone Star State. I believe that life, like a good bottle of tequila or whiskey, is meant to be savored, one sip at a time. Although I was born and bred in Texas, there isn't a part of the world I haven't "visited", all thanks to my faithful companion, a world globe that sits right in my home office. You could say I have the world at my fingertips...quite literally!
On a bit more of serious note, I kicked off my professional career amidst the bright lights and endless hustle in NYC at Hearst Corporation, a journey that then took me through the historic charm of London, and eventually back to San Antonio. But as anyone who's tried to deliver newspapers at dawn knows, the glamour can sometimes wear thin. That's when I decided to trade in my press pass for a hard hat and jump into the construction and development business. As it turns out, building dreams from the ground up can be a rather fulfilling job!
But as the economic tide turned in the US, I found myself needing to pivot. In true Texan spirit, I saw this not as a setback, but as an opportunity to step into the world of global commercial real estate by forming IDRESCO. My new venture led me to the distant and exotic lands of the former Soviet Union, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. Even without speaking a word of Russian or Arabic, I was driven by a desire to learn, adapt, and embrace the beauty of diverse cultures.
Yet, amidst the thrill of international exploration, the siren song of Texas, and a suggestion from my compadre, JP DeJoria of Patron, brought me back home and Pura Vida Tequila (www.puravida.mx) was born. A few years later, we revived our old family whiskey recipe, and added a whiskey to our portfolio. The obvious next step, develop a whiskey distillery based real estate project in the Texas Hill Country, just in time to run smack dab into Covid.
They say the rest is history, and indeed it is - history filled with laughter, a grand love for friends, family, life, and work. But this is also history in the making, as every new day brings fresh adventures, amazing opportunities, and the chance to write yet another captivating chapter in the grand book of life.
It is with this that I have partnered with Newmark, the best of the best in the world of commercial real estate, a lifelong passion! Together, let us embrace kindness as not just a virtue but a way of life – one that enriches our relationships, uplifts our communities, and transforms the world around us.
